The river basin scale

Interfacing the 3 programs, the ambition of the Zone-Atelier Seine is also to facilitate the global study of the functioning if the Seine system by relying projects at the scale of the Seine basin that integrate the functioning of the society (pressures, ecosystem services, management of the environmental heritage) and which cover a series of structuring topics:

Seine-Aval

Since 1995, the Seine-Aval research program has acquired an extensive scientific knowledge on the environmental functioning of the Seine estuary, from the Poses dam to the sea. When it was created in 2004, the GIP Seine-Aval was designed to manage the project to improve the knowledge base structure . It makes it possible to capitalize and disseminate by synthetic publications or expertise the results of the research to the actors of the estuary.

OPUR

The OPUR program aims to improve knowledge about the production and transfer of pollutants in urban waters. Its main current research themes are the source control  source of urban runoff contamination, the use of alternative resources to feed the city with water, the development of new methods for the monitoring and characterization of contaminants, the integrated modeling of pollutant flows.

PIREN-Seine

PIREN-Seine is a research program whose objective is to develop an overall vision of the functioning of the system formed by the hydrologiocal network of the Seine River, its watershed and the human society that invests it. The ecological functioning of the entire river system and its modeling, from bacteria to fish, are based on a detailed study of the physical, chemical and biological processes of the aquatic environments.

Presentation

The Zone-Atelier Seine (ZA Seine, ZAS)  is one of 14  zones-atelier supported by CNRS.  It is one of the zones-ateliers based on river basins, as the ZABR (Rhône basin), the  ZAM (Moselle), the ZAL (Loire), and the ZA ZA PYGAR (Pyrennées-Garonne).
